Compared to wild type (pupate around day 5, eclose around day 10), Tcs31A19/Df(3L)ED220 exhibit an extended larval period prior to lethality (viability: 100% at day 8, 50% at day 16) and have melanotic masses ('black spots': 70% at day 8, 100% at day 16); larvae are unable to dig into food.

Notes on Origin
Discoverer

The Tcs31A2 and Tcs31A19 mutant lines are independent isolations of the same lesion in Tcs3 (amino acid replacement D201N) as they were isolated from different chromosomes.
