Detailed Description

Mip1/Mip1 or Mip1/Df(3L)BSC432 male and female flies show significant increases in body weight (13%) and food intake (25%) compared to controls; abdominal fat storage is significantly increased in Mip1/Mip1 adults compared to controls. Activating Scer\GAL4Mip.PM neurons leads to decreases in BW, but no change in BW is seen with the additional presence of Mip1/Mip1. Mip1/Mip1 flies show significant increases in attraction to food odors compared to controls. Mip1/Mip1 flies show elevated proboscis extension responses to sucrose solution (after 0 but not 18hr starvation), compared to controls.

Comments

Expression of MipScer\UAS.cMa driven by Scer\GAL4Mip.PM rescues the increases in body weight, food intake, abdominal fat, attraction to food odors and proboscis extension responses seen in Mip1/Mip1 flies.
