    Description

Insertion of a P{GSV6} element into the coding region of Schip1 (insertion is in the second exon). The level of Schip1 protein is strongly reduced when a Scer\GAL4-driver is used to drive expression from the Scer\UAS regulatory sequences present in the P{GSV6} element.

    Detailed Description
    Statement
    Reference

Schip1GS12074/Schip1GS12074 homozygotes are lethal during embryogenesis or an early larval stage. Schip1GS12074 driven by Scer\GAL4ey.PU alone does not significantly affect eye growth, but along with UAS-dicer2 leads to strong eye overgrowth with bulging. Expression of Schip1GS12074 driven in the posterior wing compartment by Scer\GAL4en.PU increases the number of mitotic cells in the posterior compartment of the wing disc (compared to the anterior control region). Scer\GAL4en.PU>Schip1GS12074 also leads to significant increases in adult wing blade size.

Co-expression of wtsScer\UAS.cUa suppresses the over-proliferation effect in the larval wing disc and the increases in adult wing size caused by expression of Schip1GS12074 driven by Scer\GAL4en.PU. Co-expression of Schip1GS12074 suppresses the small eye phenotype in flies with expression of exScer\UAS.cUa driven by Scer\GAL4GMR.PU. Co-expression of TaoScer\UAS.P\T.T:Zzzz\FLAG (but not TaoKD.Scer\UAS.T:Zzzz\FLAG) suppresses wing changes in flies with Schip1GS12074 driven by Scer\GAL4en.PU.
