1132bp deletion within CarT. This results in a frameshift and the introduction of a stop codon, such that a small 13 amino acid peptide (MetSDIEDKSTRYHLStop) is produced instead of the wild-type CarT protein.

      CarTDel/CarTDel flies do not show on or off transients in response to light in electroretinogram recordings (ERGs). CarTDel/CarTDel flies show defects in the visual alert response assay (90% of mutants are non-responsive to a moving object and the remainder show delayed alert responses), and show severe defects in both the optomotor and phototaxis responses.
