Description

10bp deletion that removes nucleotides +40 to +49 relative to the robo1 P1 transcription start site. The deletion lies within the fru-BM response obligatory sequence (FROS) that has been shown to be necessary and sufficient for the fru-BM protein isoform to repress robo1 transcription.

Reference

The courtship index (percentage of time a male spends in courtship) and wing extension index (percentage of time a male spends for unilateral wing extension and vibration for courtship song) in robo1Δ1/robo1Δ3 males is similar to wild type; however, during courtship robo1Δ1/robo1Δ3 males show precocious wing switching (duration the mutant continues to use the same wing is much shorter, quantified as a significantly larger wing switching index) compared to controls. robo1Δ1/+ males have a significantly larger wing switching index than wild type.

robo1Δ1/+ clones (in Scer\GAL4fru-NP0021 neurons) in males have a significant increase in mAL neurons without an ipsilateral neurite compared to control clones; there is no effect in females.
