      Trehs1/Trehs1 and Trehs1/Df(2R)Exel6072 mutants are viable, and exhibit significantly increased trehalose and decreased glucose levels, but no significant difference in glycogen or TAG levels in third instar larvae, as compared to controls. Trehs1/Trehs1 mutant larvae display significantly decreased survival in response to starvation, exhibit a significant increase in hemolymph volume, and display significantly decreased viability after desiccation stress, as compared to controls.
