      CR42858KO homozygote adults show reduced fertility in males, whereas females are fully fertile compared to wild-type controls and display severe morphological defects in testes (accumulation of abnormal cotton-like flocculus in their distal part) as well as reduced number of mature spermatozoa in the seminal vesicles. They also display defects in spermatid morphogenesis (mutant testes contain sperm cells that are scattered or curled).

      The investment cones of CR42858KO homozygous males are lagging and disorganized during the individualization step of spermatogenesis compared to wild-type.
