      The inability of Tmc1 mutants to discriminate foods of different stiffness or viscosity in a two-way choice assay or in proboscis extension reflex assay as well as the lack of activity response from multidendritic neurons in the labellum to mechanical stimulation of taste bristles is fully rescued by expression of TmcScer\UAS.cZa under the control of Scer\GAL4Tmc.3.0 in the mutant background.
