An indel mutation with an early stop codon at amino acid 2719 due to a frameshift, resulting in deletion of the RING2 domain and creation of a catalytically dead LUBEL protein.
An indel starting at this location leads to a frameshift and results in early translation termination. The exact sequence of the indel was not reported.
The longevity of LUBELdelR2 homozygous mutant adults is reduced compared to wild-type controls and they also display decreased survival rate in a heat-shock stress assay. However, LUBELdelR2 mutant flies show normal survival rate upon infection with either Escherichia coli (Gram-negative) or Micrococcus luteus (Gram-positive) and the climbing ability of aged mutants is also normal.
