Scsα^KO homozygotes display developmental delay: their mean egg-to-eclosion period is significantly longer than in controls due to extended larval period, especially the third instar stage, the wing discs of the mutant larvae grow more slowly relative to controls but attain normal final size (as do the adult wings). Adult show reduced climbing ability but normal (males) or slightly prolonged (females) adult lifespan, the males display reduced survival rate upon starvation.
