mus308^null mutants display increased frequency of egg shell defects and the eggs laid by mus308^null mutants have a very low hatching frequency compared to wild-type controls.

Cell cycle progression and developmental onset of gene amplification occur normally in mus308^null mutant follicle cells and their development is also not perturbed.
