      Co-expression of parkGMR.T:Zzzz\FLAG and any of the following: Pink1GMR.T:Mito-Tom20,T:Avic\GFP, Pink1S519A.GMR.T:Mito-Tom20,T:Avic\GFP, or Pink1S346D.GMR.T:Mito-Tom20,T:Avic\GFP leads to defects in adult eye morphology (glassy appearance and loss of pigmentation) and show complete or near-complete and age-progressive lack of photoreceptor cells; co-expression with either Pink1S346A.GMR.T:Mito-Tom20,T:Avic\GFP or Pink1S346D.KD.GMR.T:Mito-Tom20,T:Avic\GFP) has no effect on the eye appearance and the flies display only moderate or no (respectively) loss of photoreceptors as they age.

      No loss of mitochondrial potential is observed in eye disc (using the JC-10 assay) of parkGMR.T:Zzzz\FLAG;Pink1GMR.T:Mito-Tom20,T:Avic\GFP third instar larvae. The defective eye morphology observed in the adults cannot be improved by either combination with Atg7d7 or co-expression of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU-driven Atg1JF02273.

      Co-expression of Pink1KD.GMR.T:Mito-Tom20,T:Avic\GFP and parkGMR.T:Zzzz\FLAG has no apparent effect on the adult eye morphology.
