The GMR50H05 enhancer fragment followed by the Drosophila synthetic core promoter (DSCP) is fused upstream of the p65(AD)::Zip+ hemidriver (component of a 'split driver' system, contains the p65 activation domain).
Thermogenetic activation (using TrpA1UAS.(B).cKa at 32[o]C) of neurons targeted by the split-GAL4 pair of Scer\GAL4DBD.R50H05 and Hsap\RELAAD.R50H05, or the split-GAL4 pair of Scer\GAL4DBD.Trh and Hsap\RELAAD.R50H05, in adult females significantly increases food intake of sated flies, compared to controls; sated flies also have a significant increase in proboscis extension reflex in response to sucrose and significantly increased preference for D-glucose over L-glucose, compared to controls.
