The GMR86D05 enhancer fragment followed by the Drosophila synthetic core promoter (DSCP) is fused upstream of the GAL4(DBD)::Zip- hemidriver (component of the 'Split GAL4' system, contains the GAL4 DNA-binding domain).
Comment: when combined with P{R47H03-p65.AD} (combination referred to as 'SS00356')
Optogenetic activation (using Cnoc\ChR1Cs.IVS.20xUAS.Venus with 590 nm (red) light) of neurons targeted by the split-GAL4 pair of Scer\GAL4DBD.R86D05 and Hsap\RELAAD.R47H03 in adults significantly increases takeoff rates, compared to controls; takeoffs are shorter in duration than spontaneous takeoffs in controls.
Silencing (using Hsap\KCNJ2IVS.10xUAS.EGFP) of neurons targeted by the split-GAL4 pair of Scer\GAL4DBD.R86D05 and Hsap\RELAAD.R47H03 in adults significantly reduces overall takeoff rates and the proportion of short takeoffs in response to fast, but not slow, looming stimuli, compared to controls.
