UAS regulatory sequences are present upstream of a genomic fragment that consists of the putative shps ORF plus 2.0kb upstream and 1.0kb downstream sequences. In the absence of a GAL4 driver, expression is driven by the endogenous shps regulatory sequences present in the genomic fragment. In the presence of a GAL4 driver, expression is driven by the UAS sequences in the expression pattern of the driver.
