Detailed Description

The expression of kek6UAS.mRFP(Unk) under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU leads to defective larval NMJ targeting, including loss of projections and misrouting/mistargeting, as compared to controls. Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4Toll-6-D42 leads to larval NMJ defects, namely significant increases in the number of branches and of active zones, but not in axonal length or in the number of type Ib boutons, as compared to controls.

The expression of kek6UAS.mRFP(Unk) under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PU rescues the lethality of NT141, spz5e03444 double homozygotes to near full viability.

The expression of kek6UAS.mRFP(Unk) under the control of Scer\GAL4Toll-6-D42 suppresses the NMJ defects of Toll-6MI02127/Df(3L)BSC578 transheterozygotes (i.e. decreases in the number of type Ib boutons, in the axonal length, in the number of NMJ branch points and in the number of active zones); this expression also suppresses the decreases in type I bouton number and in axon length observed at the larval neuromuscular junction of both spz537/Df(3L)Exel6092 single transheterozygotes and of kek634/Df(3R)ED6361, spz537/Df(3L)Exel6092 double transheterozygotes.

Comments

The expression of kek6UAS.mRFP(Unk) under the control of Scer\GAL4Toll-6-D42 partially rescues the decreases in type Ib bouton number and axonal length, but not the small increase in the number of ghost boutons, observed at the larval NMJ of kek634/Df(3R)ED6361 transheterozygotes.
