      Expression of GATAeNIG.cUa under the control of Scer\GAL4NP0001, in combination with a Gal80[ts] transgene to restrict expression to the adult stage, results in defects in enterocyte morphology in the anterior midgut and disruption of the brush border in the middle midgut (R3 region); intestinal transit is also affected, with accumulation of food seen in R3; there is also an increase in cell division (PH3 staining) in the midgut and a reduction in lifespan, compared to controls.
