      Megf8Δ8 homozygous and Megf8Δ1/Megf8Δ8 transheterozygous larvae show a severe severe developmental delay in the L2-L3 transition, and display an abnormal feeding behavior, leaving the food as early as larval day two, as compared to controls; these mutant larvae have planar polarity defects, as shown by the denticle belts organization, which range from a generally disorganized appearance to partially or completely missing belts or fused belts.
