HIPP1 reporter expression largely overlaps with that of su(Hw) in larval tissues except in the brain and ventral nerve cord, where HIPP1 is largely present and su(Hw) is largely absent. In the ovary, HIPP1 reporter is present in all somatic and germ cells. In later stages of oogenesis, it is found on nurse cell chromosomes but absent from nuclear regions that contain the nucleolus. HIPP1 extensively co-localizes with su(Hw) in the ovary. Low levels of the HIPP1 reporter are found in all somatic cells in the testis. In spermatocytes, levels start out low and then increase with as su(Hw) levels decline.
Flies carrying one copy of T(2;3)SbV frequently display a mosaic thoracic bristle phenotype, wherein bristles are both short and long, a phenotype that is unaffected by one copy of HIPP1sfGFP.
