Deletion that removes sequence from -300 to +1172 relative to the Eip71CD transcription start site. Generated by imprecise excision of P{EPgy2}Eip71CDEY05753.
Inferred boundaries of a 1473bp deletion resulting from the imprecise excision of P{EPgy2}MsrAEY05753. The deletion is reported as extending from -300 to +1172 relative to the MsrA transcription start site. The transcription start site at 3L:15511052 (MsrA-RA, RB, RC, and RG) was used for the mapping).
Eip71CDw90/+ and Eip71CDw90/Eip71CDw90 flies show similar developmental rates and have similar wet and dry masses as wild-type controls from first instar larvae to 6-day old adults. Adult flies display similar levels of oxidative damage and lifespan to wild-type controls.
MsrAw90, SelRw92 has short lived | recessive phenotype
MsrAw90, SelRw92 has abnormal developmental rate | recessive | early third instar larval stage phenotype
MsrAw90, SelRw92 has abnormal feeding behavior | recessive | early third instar larval stage phenotype
MsrAw90, SelRw92 has mouth hook | early third instar larval stage phenotype
Early third instar larvae double homozygous mutant for Eip71CDw90 and SelRw92 display significantly reduced rates of mouth hook contractions and food intake, reduced wet and dry masses and developmental delay compared to wild-type controls. Mass and developmental rate are similar to wild-type, single homozygous and single/combined heterozygous controls at all other stages from first instar larvae to 6-day old adults. Developmental delay in double homozygous mutants at the early third instar stage (regardless of nutrient content in the diet) is comparable to controls fed a nutrient-deficient diet.
Adults homozygous mutant for Eip71CDw90 and SelRw92 are short lived under regular rearing conditions, while exposure to oxidative stress results in similar median lifespans to matched wild-type controls. A single copy of a wild-type allele for either gene is sufficient to rescue the reduction in lifespan under regular rearing conditions.
