A cDNA fragment containing mutated H sequence has been reintroduced into the attP site present in HattP, resulting in a H locus carrying mutations in the NLS3 (nuclear localization signal 3) and NES (nuclear export signal).

      HmutNLS3NES heterozygotes do not display major external phenotypes, but exhibit mild but significant bristle loss in the head and thorax, as compared to controls. There are no obvious changes in sensory organ precursors in the wing discs. Homozygous escapers show near complete los of bristles.
