Epidermal Df(2L)His^C clones in His4r^Δ homozygotes that also express 12 copies of a HisGU gene unit with a His4[H4K16Q] substitution (bearing His1^HisGU.wt, His2A^HisGU.wt, His2B^HisGU.wt, His3^HisGU.wt, and His4^HisGU.H4K16Q) are able to form normal-looking adult structures with sensory bristles.
