AhcyL1⁷⁰/AhcyL1¹³⁰ epithelium exhibit cells with small nuclei instead of large differentiated enterocytes in adults.

The AhcyL1⁷⁰/AhcyL1¹³⁰ midguts exhibit increased number of immature enteroendocrine cells and have aberrant organization. They exhibit thinner peritrophic membrane under normal or free from microorganisms conditions, less dense structure of adherens junctions and aberrant EC morphology. Also multiple epithelial polyps protrude in the lumen of midguts.
