Description

chif lies in the intron between exon 1 and exon 2 of Hyls1 and has four annotated isoforms. The 30-aa C-terminus specific to chif-RA is encoded by a short exon shared with part of exon 2 of Hyls1, and is deleted in Hyls156 mutants. This lesion in chif is designated chif56. The chif-RB and chif-RD isoforms are unaffected by this lesion and, because these isoforms are fully functional, the chif56 mutant should not affect chif function.

Comment:

A 206bp deletion and 10bp insertion that removes sequences encoding the terminal 30 amino acids chif-PA. The other chif transcripts are not affected. The deletion removes most of the second exon of the overlapping Hyls1 gene.
