NimB4sk2 homozygous embryos exhibit increased apoptosis, and macrophages appear highly vacuolated and full of apoptotic corpses. Larvae also exhibit increased apoptosis in the brain. Larval macrophages exhibit decreased phagocytosis of apoptotic cells but retain the ability to phagocytose S. aureus bacteria; these macrophages also exhibit increased number of large intracellular vesicles, namely phagosomes.

NimB4sk2 homozygous third instar larvae exhibit decreased crawling ability, namely a severe decrease in linear movement, and adults show decreased climbing ability,
