Indel within the elav coding region; 2bp substitution (TG to CA) followed by a 2bp deletion (of TT) at codon 420. Results in a +2 frameshift in the open reading frame and a premature stop codon.

Net deletion of two bases (4bp deletion and 2bp insertion (CA) causes a frameshift in elav and leads to early translation termination after the addition of 33 novel amino acids. The third RNA recognition motif (RRM3) is truncated as a result.
