Description
Description
V-ATPases (vacuolar (H+)-ATPases) are ATP-dependent proton pumps. Principally, they pump protons from the cytoplasm to the lumen of organelles or across epithelial apical membranes to drive secondary active transport. (Adapted from PMID:20450191).
Notes on Group

The VACUOLAR ATPASE SUBUNITS gene group represents individual V-ATPase subunit genes. The subunits exist in multiple isoforms/genes which are often expressed in a tissue specific manner and determine the localization and role of the particular V-ATPase complex.
