A Disintegrin And Metalloprotease Thrombospondin motif (ADAMTS) belongs to the metzincin superfamily of metalloproteases. ADAMTS is related to ADAM proteins, sharing in part their domain organisation. However, ADAMTS includes proteins that contain a variable number of thrombospondin-like repeats instead of disintegrin and cysteine rich domains. Although listed in FBrf0214506 and FBrf0233226 as ADAMTS proteins, loh and Ppn lack the ADAMTS catalytic domain and are included in the 'ADAMTS-LIKE' gene group.
