Description
Description
The nuclear exosome is a 3'-5' exonuclease complex that is involved in the processing and degradation many types of RNAs, including mRNA, rRNA, snRNA, snoRNA and tRNA. In yeast and humans, the exosome has a barrel structure, the core of which is formed by a ring of six RNase PH domain subunits and a cap of three S1/KH-domain subunits. (Adapted from FBrf0210381 and PMID:27345150).
Notes on Group

Drosophila exosome complexes appear to differ from other eukaryotes as they lack an ortholog to the Rrp43 RNase PH domain subunit (FBrf0210381).

Rrp47 has not been included in the NUCLEAR EXOSOME COMPLEX gene group, as it is considered to be a cofactor (FBrf0210381). CG17982 has not been included in the NUCLEAR EXOSOME COMPLEX gene group, but has been reported to co-purify with this complex under certain experimental conditions (FBrf0155992).

From studies in yeast, the cytoplasmic exosome differs from the nuclear version by the absence of the Rrp6 subunit (PMID:23352926).

The NUCLEAR EXOSOME COMPLEX was sourced from Complex Portal, curated by EMBL-EBI.
