Description
Description
ER degradation-enhancing α-mannosidases (EDEMs) are lectin chaperones involved in the clearance of misfolded glycoproteins from ER by a process termed ER-associated protein degradation (ERAD). EDEMs recognize Man(8)GlcNAc(2) on misfolded proteins and extract them for retrotranslocation to the cytosol for degradation by the ubiquitin-proteasomal system. (Adapted from FBrf0227796.)
