Viral tegument-like deubiquitinases (VTDs) are a widely distributed family of eukaryotic and bacterial deubiquitinases related to herpesviral large tegument proteins. While some VTD activities resemble viral tegument deubiquitinases in that they favor K48-linked ubiquitin chains, other members are highly specific for K6- or K63-linked ubiquitin chains. Notes on Group
The products of CG14402, CG4669, ms(3)76Cc, CG32436 and CG32462 have inactive catalytic domains (they lack one or more of the active site residues) and are annotated to have a testis-specific expression pattern (FBrf0255227).
The CG42529 protein sequence exactly matches the Vtld protein sequence.
