Description
The TIM22 mitochondrial import inner membrane insertion complex mediates the import and insertion of multipass transmembrane proteins into the mitochondrial inner membrane. The channel is formed by the Tim22 subunit. Tim9-10 form a peripheral membrane chaperone subcomplex in the mitochondrial intermembrane space. (Adapted from PMID:32901109.)
Notes on Group

The cryoEM structure of the human TIM22 complex (PMID:32901109) showed that the complex contained one TIMM22, one TIMM29 and one AGK subunit, plus two hexameric chaperone complexes: Tim9/10a ( 3:3 ) and Tim9/10a/10b ( 2:3:1 ). In D.mel, Tim10 is the ortholog of human TIMM10; Tim9a of TIMM9 and Tim9b of TIMM10b. The two hexameric chaperone complexes have also been curated as separate mitochondrial intermembrane space chaperone complexes.
