The interaction of roX2 RNA with mof is not disrupted by high salt conditions that are sufficient to disrupt the mle-mof protein-protein interaction. This suggests that roX2 RNA can bind mof independently of mle.

mof specifically coimmunoprecipitates roX2 RNA, but not Hsp26 RNA. However, additional studies in this paper do show that mof can bind RNA non-specifically in vitro.
