piwi coimmunoprecipitates Su(z)12 and esc, but not E(z) or corto in this co-transfection/coimmunoprecipitation assay. Association of piwi with PRC2 complex is thus mediated by Su(z)12 and esc. Note that piwi does not modulate in vitro histone methylation activity of reconstituted PRC2.
