Abstract
A method for selecting pairs of deletion--tandem duplication in an autosome arm of Drosophila has been developed. Males containing autosome 2 and the right and left free arms of this autosome are producing gametes with metacentric and the free arm throughout meiotic nondisjunction. Unequal exchanges induced in such gametes give deletions and tandem duplications corresponding to the arm. This approach makes it possible to induce deletion without having a marker in the region under study.
