Text of Personal Communication
Personal communication from: Dan Lindsley, University of California, San Diego
To: Bloomington Drosophila Stock Center
Subject: Aberrations in the Mid-America Stock List
Background: We asked Dan if he could identify any of the aberrations from the Mid-America stock list that weren't in FlyBase
or provide any additional information on some that were in FlyBase. Information he provided that is relevant to FlyBase follows.
Information communicated:
1. C(1;Y)112-17 & C(1;Y)129-11
"C(1;Y)112-17 & 129-11 are XYL.YS with the X in normal sequence: Like C(1;Y)6 I suppose."
2. C(1;Y)110-8 & C(1;Y)115-9
"C(1;Y)110-8 & 115-9 are XYS.YL with the X in normal sequence: Like C(1;Y)8?"
3. Dp(1;1)L
"These are derivatives of a normal X with heterochromatin appended to the tip without the loss of any vital loci. One carries BS
from the BSY, one carries y31d from In(1)sc8, and one carries y+ from y+Y. They were made by me and used in the
construction of Dp(1;1)BSTAG, which apparently no longer exists."
4. Dp(1;3)scJ4
"Dp(1;3)scJ4 is a useful chromosome; it carries y+ appended to the end of 3L without the loss of any vital third chromosome
loci. Useful in somatic mosaics as an alternative to mwh+."
5. Dp(1;Y)BSv+y+
"Dp(1;Y)BSv+y+ is the only Y carrying a normal allele of v."
