The following information accompanied stocks donated to the Bloomington Stock Center by Karen Kozopas (3/03).
Five complementation groups were defined by the EMS screen described in Kozopas et al. (Genes Dev. 12: 1155--1165, 1998) based on their failure to complement Df(2R)11, a deletion with breakpoints 45C6;45E1. The Wnt2 alleles were described in the paper. The remaining four complementation groups are described here.
1. wunen alleles
wunEMS4, wunEMS23 and wunEMS41 failed to complement wunk09507, wunk10201, wunk15909 and Df(2R)Np5. They also failed to complement l(2)k16806k16806, which failed to complement wun alleles in Zhang et al. (Genetics  143:1231--1241 , 1996).
2. l(2)45CDa alleles
l(2)45CDaEMS3 and l(2)45CDaEMS25 failed to complement Df(2R)Np5.
3. l(2)03659 allele
l(2)03659EMS93 failed to complement l(2)0365903659 and Df(2R)Np5. It also failed to complement l(2)03659EMS5, which was lost.
l(2)03659EMS93/l(2)03659EMS5 individuals had low viability, short bristles on the head, thorax and scutellum, and downward curving wings. They were also sterile.
4. l(2)45Da alleles
l(2)45DaEMS9, l(2)45DaEMS39 and l(2)45DaEMS74 complemented Df(2R)Np5.
