CG12058, FBgn0005639,  X:9137858..9139961 , was identified as multi sex combs (mxc) based on rescue data, which could not be repeated.
Definite molecular data from 4 different mxc alleles (the γ ray induced mxc16a-1 and mxc22a-6, and the ethyl methanesulfonate induced mxcG43 and mxcG48) have now shown that CG12058 is unaffected, whereas the coding sequence of the adjacent gene, Dmel\CG12124 (CG12124, FBgn0030112,  X:9130834..9137237 ) is affected in all 4 cases.
