Constructs:
P{vri.32} carries a 32 kb vri rescue fragment from P{CoSper} iso-I cosmid made with Canton-S genomic DNA (see FBrf0055569).
P{Ubi-p63E-vri.1} expresses 3.8kb vri cDNA (vri.1) under the control of the Ubi-p63E promoter.
P{UAS-vri.5.WIZ} expresses an inverted repeat of a 552bp fragment corresponding to 21-552 of vri.1. Larval and pupal lethal with da-GAL4 (Terracol R, unpublished). PCR primers: forward: 5'-gcagtctagatcgaagcggttc-3', reverse: 5'-gcagtctagagctggctgtagtgat-3'.
P{UAS-vri.3.WIZ} expresses an inverted repeat of a 720bp fragment corresponding to 2075-2774 of vri.1. Pupal lethal with da-GAL4, small curved up wings with MS1096 (Terracol R, unpublished). PCR primers: forward: 5'-gcagtctagaagctgtttccggcgatg-3', reverse: 5'-gcagtctagaggtccagacctggcccta-3'.
P{UAS-hNFIL3.T} expresses NFIL3 (human homolog of vri) under the control of UAS.  Displayed similar phenotypes to vri overexpression with a number of GAL4 drivers (Terracol R, unpublished). Human NFIL3 was cloned from the  MGC:5038  cDNA clone.
P{Ubi-p63E-hNFIL3.T} expresses NFIL3 (human homolog of vri) under the control of the Ubi-p63E promoter. Human NFIL3 was cloned from  MGC:5038  cDNA clone.
P{UAS-Pdp1.T} expresses Pdp1 under the control of UAS. Displayed phenotypes similar to vri overexpression with a number of GAL drivers (Terracol R, unpublished). Pdp1 was cloned from XhoI fragment of cDNA GH27708 into pUAST.
P{UAS-Pdp1.WIZ} expresses an inverted repeat of 580bp fragment corresponding to 1713-2272 of Pdp1 cDNA GH27708.  Larval and pupal lethal with da-GAL4, small curved up wings with MS1096 (Terracol R, unpublished).  PCR primers: forward: 5'-gcagtctagagatcgaatgggaatgcca-3', reverse: 5'-gcagtctagatgcgtgacccagggaat-3'.
