The 'UAS-myr-Akt1' insertion on the third chromosome in Bloomington stock 50758, obtained from the laboratory of S. Birnbaum, was previously thought to contain a full-length Akt1 protein tagged with a myristoylation motif. However, sequencing of the construct in the current 50758 stock indicates that it contains a deletion at the start of the Akt1 cDNA; the first 341 bp of the coding sequence of Akt1-RA are missing, resulting in a deletion of 75% of the PH domain in the encoded myr-Akt1 protein.
The insertion in the stock has been named P{UAS-myr-Akt1.DeltaPH}3 (to indicate the deletion of the PH domain) and the stock has been given a new number (80935) to minimise confusion.
The 'UAS-myr-Akt1’ construct used in Zheng et al., 2007, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. U.S.A. 104(40): 15899–15904 <up>FBrf0216135</up>, also originally obtained from S. Birnbaum, was also sequenced and found to encode the PH-domain deleted form of Akt1.
