Insertion lines from this collection were assessed for inclusion in the Gene Disruption Project collection.
In larvae, expression detected in the ring glands of second-instar larvae prior to but not during molting, and again in mid- and late third-instar larvae. In the ring gland, expression in restricted to lateral secretory cells (prothoracic gland).
l(2)00248
Deficiency complementation analysis is consistent with the lethality of the line being associated with the insertion.
Location 2R:7408025-7408026 confirmed by FlyBase alignment of dbGSS accession AQ025581 to D. melanogaster arm Release_4 and heterochromatin Release_3.2b.
The P{PZ}l(2)0024800248 insertion maps only 42bp upstream of the transcription start of the CT24517 transcript of Ef1α48D.The P{PZ}Ef1α48D01275 insertion is 22bp upstream of the P{PZ}l(2)0024800248 insertion. The P{lacW}Ef1α48Dk17014 insertion is 17bp upstream of the P{PZ}l(2)0024800248 insertion. The P{lacW}Ef1α48Dk07303 insertion is 14bp upstream of the P{PZ}l(2)0024800248 insertion.
This insertion was listed in the BDGP database as a lethal or sterile line during the period 1994-1999, but was not verified as such prior to the summary publication (FBrf0111489). Reasons for excluding lines from the collection described in FBrf0111489 include presence of more than one P insertion on the mutant chromosome, separation of lethality (or sterility) from the location of the insertion, and loss of lethality (or sterility) from the stock. Further information is available from http://www.fruitfly.org/bfd/ and from Dr. Allan Spradling (spradling@mail1.ciwemb.edu).
May be multiple insertion line: in situ data (50D6--50D7) conflict with location inferred from flanking sequence (48D1).
