Insertion lines from this collection were assessed for inclusion in the Gene Disruption Project collection.
A set of mutant stocks derived by insertional mutagenesis using the P-element construct P{lacW}; most lines have a lethal or sterile phenotype. The P{lacW} construct carries a w+mC mini-white visible marker, Ecol\lacZ enhancer trap sequences, and bacterial sequences that allow plasmid rescue (FBrf0049800).
Very weak expression in gonad of wandering third instar larva.
l(3)s1754
Insertion within CG7427. Based on reversion analysis, the insertion may have lost the w+mC marker.
The lethality of the "l(3)s1754" chromosome (represented by l(3)s1754s1754) is separable from the P{lacW}CG7427s1754 insertion in the CG7427 gene: the lethality of the chromosome is complemented by a deficiency (Df(3L)XG9) which uncovers the CG7427 gene. In addition, the lethality of the chromosome can be reverted to viability by Delta2-3 mediated excision, suggesting that the lethal allele (l(3)s1754s1754) is potentially also associated with an insertion and thus that there may be two insertions on the third chromosome in this line.
Location 3L:15528869-15528870 confirmed by FlyBase alignment of dbGSS accession AQ026378 to D. melanogaster arm Release_4 and heterochromatin Release_3.2b.
