Insertion lines from this collection were assessed for inclusion in the Gene Disruption Project collection.
A set of mutant stocks derived by insertional mutagenesis using the P-element construct P{lacW}; most lines have a lethal or sterile phenotype. The P{lacW} construct carries a w+mC mini-white visible marker, Ecol\lacZ enhancer trap sequences, and bacterial sequences that allow plasmid rescue (FBrf0049800).
Insertion site reported as 2R:5172332 in release 5 coordinates with an 8 bp repeat of ATCTGAGC.
Originally reported at the equivalent of genome location 2R:9284828 (release 6 coordinates) and on the positive strand.
l(2)k11209
Location 2R:4796641-4796642 confirmed by FlyBase alignment of dbGSS accession AQ025955 to D. melanogaster arm Release_4 and heterochromatin Release_3.2b.
This insertion was listed in the BDGP database as a lethal or sterile line during the period 1994-1999, but was not verified as such prior to the summary publication (FBrf0111489). Reasons for excluding lines from the collection described in FBrf0111489 include presence of more than one P insertion on the mutant chromosome, separation of lethality (or sterility) from the location of the insertion, and loss of lethality (or sterility) from the stock.
