Larval expression is observed in all 21 afferents from the dorsal organ, and a subset of gustatory afferents from the terminal organ.

ScerGAL44551 is expressed in 24 receptor neurons located in the dorsal organ ganglion and in three gustatory neurons associated with the terminal organ. It is also expressed in approximately 15 neurons of the terminal organ, and up to seven neurons whose cell bodies are located in the ventral organ ganglion.
