The P{NA}1A insertion is flanked by HeT-A sequences at the 5' end and TAS sequences at the 3' end.

P{NA}1A strongly suppresses gonadal dysgenic sterility, is capable of eliciting the pre-P cytotype and and has a P-element repression ability that is restricted to the germline. It strongly represses P-element excision. The ability to repress dysgenic sterility is maternally transmitted.
