Naturally occurring P-element variant isolated from a Tunisian population. The P{NA} element is deleted at its 5' end, lacking the first 871bp of the canonical P-element. This deletion removes the 31bp 5' terminal inverted repeat, the promoter and the transposase (P\T) 5' binding site and thus the element cannot be mobilised by its own transposase. In addition, the element cannot be transcribed unless transcription is initiated at an external promoter.
