Description

Dronpa is a monomeric protein that can be reversibly switched between a green fluorescent state and a non-fluorescent state: exposure to light of around 490nm quenches the fluorescence, while irradiation at around 400nm restores the green fluorescence. The green fluorescent state has a major excitation peak of 503nm which results in emission with a peak of 518nm. Dronpa is an artificial derivate of the Echinophyllia sp. SC22 '22G' cDNA, containing the additional amino acid substitutions I102N, F114Y, L162S, R194H, N205S and G218E (PMID:15550670).
