CBG-NLuc corresponds to the N-terminal part of the luciferase encoded by the Pyrophorus plagiophthalmus Luc gene (UniProtKB:Q718C0). If the CBG-NLuc split enzyme fragment is brought into close association with the complementary CBG-CLuc split enzyme fragment in vivo, a catalytically active enzyme may be reconstituted, which can emit bioluminescence in the presence of the luciferase substrate D-Luciferin (PMID:24857020).
