mMaple is a fluorescent protein that can be irreversibly photoconverted from an initial green fluorescent form to a red fluorescent form upon UV illumination. The green fluorescent form has an emission peak of 505nm, while the red fluorescent form has an emission peak of 583nm in vitro (PMID:23240015). mMaple shows a relatively high tendency to dimerize (PMID:24912163).
