lacZ gene expression is driven by a promoter and 5' leader sequence 1.2kb fragment of Tm1 gene from intron 3 and exon 4 and the 3' untranslated sequence (3'UTR) of SV40.

When EcollacZ expression is driven by Tm1 sequence from -1200 bp to +240 bp (relative to the start of transcription) and with a heterologous 3' UTR, expression is only detected in stage S10-11 nurse cells. Subsequent transfer of RNA to the oocyte does not take place.
